Hot water heat pumps: the most efficient water heating solution.
According to the SA Government, heating water accounts for 23% of the energy used at an average household. A hot water heat pump is a great idea for when you are after a cost- and energy efficient way of heating the water at your home.

How does it work?
Stiebel Eltron has been in business for 95 years, using an innovative state-of-the-art technique to heat water. The system works as follows:
- A fan draws in air through an evaporator. Thermal energy within the air in transferred into a liquid refrigerant causing it to change into gas.
- The refrigerant gas is then drawn into a compressor which increases the pressure and, as a result, increases the temperature.
- A condenser (heat exchanger) then transports gaseous refrigerant around the outside of the water cylinder. This heats the water inside and the gaseous refrigerant reverts back into a liquid.
- The pressure of the refrigerant is reduced as it goes through an expansion valve and returns to the evaporator for the process to start all over again.
The hot water heat pumps come in two sizes, with a 220 or 302 litre capacity.
